Preparing the import files
To customize Production Scheduling to fit your workflow, you will need to have items available. The items entered are used to schedule production work orders in Production Scheduling.

Understanding each column in the items import template
| Field Name | Required or Optional | Description |
| Code | Required | The item SKU/name. This appears as “Item Code” on the work order and work block. |
| Default Unit of Measure | Required | The unit of measure that the item will use by default. This appears as “Unit of Measure” on the work order. |
| Standard Units Per Hour | Required | The quantity of the item that can be produced in an hour. This appears as “Base Production Rate” on the work order in the sidebar and “Work Center Production Rate” on the work block. |
| Personnel | Required | The minimum quantity of people required to produce the standard units per hour. This appears as “Standard Labor” on the work order and work block. |
| Production rate depends on number of people | Optional |
This field is most relevant when the item is produced by people labor. This is the indication of whether or not the item production rate is affected by labor (example: 4 people can produce at double the rate of 2 people). Enter “TRUE” if the rate of production of the item is affected by the quantity of people working at the work center. Enter “FALSE” if the rate of production of the item is not affected by the quantity of people working at the work center. This will appear as “Production rate depends on labor” on the work order and work block. |

A description of the item.This appears as “Item Description” on the work order and work block. |
| Performance | Optional |
The average percentage of time that workers or machines are actively producing this item at a work center. This field will be used to calculate a more accurate expected production rate of the item. By default, performance is set to 100%. Enter a value from 0 to 1.0 in the column of the CSV file, where 1.0 refers to 100%. This appears as “Performance” on the work order and work block. |
| Primary Preferred Line Type | Optional |
This refers to the main type of production process or equipment that is used to produce the item. For example, if an item needs a machine to blend material together, then the item can have “blender” as the line type preference. The primary line type preference appears as a label on the work order and work block. |
| Secondary Preferred Line Type | Optional |
This refers to another type of production process or equipment that is sometimes used to produce the item. For example, when items can be produced by using a blending machine or manual labor, then the item can have “manual” as the secondary line type preference. The secondary line type preference appears as a label on the work order and work block. |
