Before using Production Scheduling, you will need to have the following information available:
You will need to import your items and work orders in order to use Production Scheduling. Please read the following sections to learn best practices when importing item and/or work order data and setting up shifts and lines.
1. Item and work order data
In Production Scheduling, you need to import the following data in order to create your production schedule:
- Item information (e.g. item name, item description, customer name, etc.)
- Production details (e.g. units expected, units produced, item code, due date. etc.)
When you have your item and work order data available, you will need to enter and organize your data into a CSV file. Click here for the item import CSV template and here for the work order import CSV template.

2. Shifts
Shifts in Production Scheduling represent the work shifts that you have established at your facility. When setting up shifts in Production Scheduling, it is best to capture the work shifts exactly as they occur at your facility (i.e. same time and dates).

3. Lines
In Production Scheduling, a line usually refers to your production line or a physical location where you would complete production work (e.g. packing or manufacturing).
When setting up lines in Production Scheduling, it is best to use the names of production lines, or physical locations where production work is completed, exactly as they are used at your facility. Also, it would be ideal if you could determine the type of work being completed or the machinery used at each line because you can enter this information in Production Scheduling.
